Penhaligon's is the epitome of luxury in the fragrance world, and counts several members of the royal family amongst its fans. And now, the brand is offering a steal this Christmas with its Dainty Tartlets set. Priced at £50, the set includes five of their most popular scents for women, each in a 5ml bottle.

While that may not seem like much, as a perfume connoisseur, I can assure you that with daily use, each bottle should last a minimum of two months. Empressa, my top pick from the collection, would normally set you back £215 for just a 10ml bottle, and you'll get that plus four others for £50, making it the perfect opportunity to try out the royal-approved scents.

It's a hit on Sephora too, boasting an impressive 4.5 out of 5-star rating from over 80 reviews. One satisfied customer raved: "The scent of royalty! Opens with a rose and fruit and lingers with a powdery patchouli and bergamot. Last for probably 5/6 hours with two spray. It's definitely a big scent in a small package. If I could envision what it smells like to be a wealthy queen, this is it!"

Another shared: "This perfume Empressa is a very calm but sensual scent. It is a very versatile and pleasant scent. A little goes a long way so it will last you for a while. It is the perfect everyday perfume for running errands or going on a date."

And a third chimed in: "Great smell very earthy and seductive. Definitely a little warmer than I'd usually pick but the scents are beautiful and work wonderfully together."

The Dainty Tartlets set includes four fragrances

While many shoppers are adoring the perfume, some find the aroma a bit overwhelming. A buyer remarked: "This fragrance isn't what I expected, I normally love sweet and floral scents but this one just wasn't my cup of tea. I found it too strong, I feel with the mix of scents it was just too much. If you like a mixture of fruit, floral and sweet scents all in one then this would be perfect for you. Just is not what I like."

In the Dainty Tartlets set you'll get:

  • Luna (Top notes are Lemon, Bergamot and Bitter Orange; middle notes are Rose, Juniper Berries and Jasmine; base notes are Musk, Balsam Fir and Ambergris)
  • Elisabethan Rose (Top notes are Hazelnut, Tangerine, Almond and Cinnamon; middle notes are May Rose, Rose Oil, Rose, Black Currant, Geranium, Red Lily and Plum; base notes are Musk, Woody Notes, Violet, Vetiver and Orris Root)
  • The Favourite (Top notes are Violet, Freesia and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Mimosa, Iris and Jasmine Sambac; base notes are Musk, Ambroxan and Sandalwood)
  • Halfeti (Top notes are Cypress Leaf, Saffron, Cardamom, Artemisia, Bergamot and Grapefruit; middle notes are Bulgarian Rose, Nutmeg and Jasmine; base notes are Agarwood (Oud), Cedar, Leather, Sandalwood, Amber, Tonka Bean, Vanilla and Musk)
  • Empressa (Top notes are Blood Orange, Peach, Bergamot, Mandarin Orange and Pink Pepper; middle notes are Rose, Dewberry, Cassis, Neroli and Geranium; base notes are Patchouli, Brown sugar, Musk, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Amber, Cacao and Olibanum)

Other than the Penhaligon's Dainty Tartlets set, there are several other fragrance gift sets on the market that would make perfect Christmas gifts. Some, like Maison Margiela's trio of 10ml bottles priced at £63, even offer more generous quantities, while Kayali tempts vanilla lovers with a quartet of iconic 10ml perfumes for £88, reports the Manchester Evening News.
