If you’ve scrolled through beauty videos on TikTok recently, we can almost guarantee you’ve been served at least one ad for Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, £34 here. The product has earned itself a cult following thanks to a host of influencers and beauty experts raving about its skin-smoothing abilities, however, it’s not the most affordable product for all shoppers.

If you’ve been keen to incorporate a BHA into your skincare routine, Aldi is providing a purse-friendly alternative to the Paula’s Choice buy in the form of its new Lacura 2% BHA Toner, £4.99 in stores this week.

Specially formulated with salicylic acid, camellia leaf extract, and methylpropanediol (which contains antimicrobial properties), it effectively works to remove dead skin for a smoother, clearer and more luminous complexion. In terms of price, it’s also 85% – just under £20 – cheaper than the Paula’s Choice version.

Paula's Choice BHA is a cult favourite for a reason

Because Aldi’s toner is new, it’s hard to compare exact results to the Paula’s Choice formula. If you do have a bit more cash to spend, a whopping 630 people on Cult Beauty have attested to the pricier product’s 5-star effects on skin…

“I'm probably the last person left to try this but I'm so so glad I did. I really stripped back my skincare and started using this to tackle rough skin and hyperpigmentation and I'm loving the results after around a month of consistent use,” says one reviewer.

A second writes: “If you have congested skin, this helps clear it. My skin feels smoother with fewer bumps. Helped so much with breakouts”.

Whichever product you choose – Lacura or Paula’s Choice – smoother skin is certainly on the cards for you this summer!
