Being partial to expensive perfumes filled with exotic notes can really drain my bank account. Thankfully, as a beauty fan who is always on the lookout for ways to save on my favourite products, I've discovered an incredible cost-cutting hack that lets you bag designer scents for much less – and I wish I knew it sooner.

Most fragrance fans know all too well that perfumes and aftershaves from high-end brands like Tom Ford, Creed and Kilian Paris can cost hundreds of pounds. However, buying a perfume atomiser containing the scent means you'll be paying a whole lot less than you would for a full-size bottle. What's more? It also enables you to bring a touch of luxury wherever you go.

For example, Tom Ford's warm, fresh Soleil Blanc Eau de Parfum will set you back £294 for a 100ml-size bottle at LookFantastic, but the 10ml atomiser is priced at £66 – a saving of £228. Or, you can pick up the 10ml Eau De Soleil Travel Spray for £37.

Soleil Blanc is a unisex fragrance with citrus and white floral notes. Sparkling citrus and aromatic botanicals are blended with vanilla, amber and Tonka bean, creating a refined scent. In a glowing review of the 10ml atomiser, one delighted shopper said: "The smell of this one is pure summer, my go to for holidays and a little goes a long way. It lasts all day."

If you're not on a budget and want to snap up a full-size bottle, beauty retailer Space NK is currently offering customers £20 off when they spend £100 or more, with the code "EXPLORE". This means you can pick up the 50ml Tom Ford Eau de Soleil Blanc for £88 instead of its original price tag of £108.

Meanwhile, the Love, Don't Be Shy Eau de Parfum by Kilian Paris is priced at £225 for a 50ml bottle, but there's also a 7.5ml deluxe size of the scent for £42. A floral and gourmand scent, it boasts notes of neroli, orange blossom and marshmallow. On the Cult Beauty website, many reviewers have hailed the perfume as "beautiful" and "hypnotic", but some said it was "overpriced".

Guys can try out Creed scents for less by snapping up this Men's Inspiration Set for £40. It provides an introduction to five of the brand's key fragrances in 1.7ml vials, with the appearance of Original Vetiver, Millésime Impérial, and Green Irish Tweed as well. There's also the Aventus Eau de Parfum included, which usually costs £210 for a 100ml size.

Finally, fans of Versace fragrances will be pleased to hear that the Bright Crystal Eau de Toilette can be purchased as a travel spray for £17 (was £20) at Boots. A 50ml bottle of this perfume normally costs £74 – so the smaller size gives you a really good saving if you only want to try it out. Top notes of pomegranate, iced accord and yuzu lead to a heart of magnolia, peony and lotus flower before base notes of amber, musk and acajou.
