Never one to shy away from a dramatic look, Emily Atack posted a series of Instagram stories on Tuesday of her wearing blue mascara.
Captioning the story "Blue mascara for the win", the 33 year old posted a video showing how the brightly coloured mascara looked, followed by a snap of the same look that showed off the subtle blue tint that she'd applied to her eyelashes in more detail.
Dressed in a black polo neck top and with the rest of her makeup looking soft and natural, the bright blue mascara stood out and emphasised the star’s blue eyes perfectly.
Coloured mascara was originally a big hit in the 80s and 90s, and has seen a boost in popularity over the last few years thanks to the fact it creates a bold look whilst still being incredibly easy to do. Blue mascara also helps to make your eyes look brighter and whiter, and helps your lashes stand out and look longer.
The dramatic looks helps make eyes stand out without the need for elaborate eyeshadow looks or a steady hand like liquid eyeliner. All you need to do is apply a few coats to your lashes and go.
Emily chose to show off hers with a messy up do, with her blonde hair piled on top of her head and framing her face to really show off the look. Coloured mascara works with almost every eye colour and complexion, and the subtle pop of colour makes it the perfect spring look to upgrade your makeup routine.
If you’re not ready to commit to a full blue lash, try applying some just at the root or only on the tips of your lashes for a flash of colour without the dramatic impact. You can also apply it just to the outer corners of your lashes to compliment a colourful eyeshadow look.
If you really want to make the blue stand out, try applying a coat of white mascara first. This gives the blue a light base to cling onto, and makes the colour even more vibrant.
