The 2024 BAFTAs has already seen some fantastic fashion and beauty moments, and one of our favourite makeup looks from this year’s event has to be Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s array of dramatic eyeshadow.
For the BAFTAs red carpet, The Murder on the Dancefloor singer and her makeup artist Lisa Laudat opted for pink eye shadow from Lancôme, and although she has yet to share exactly which eyeshadow was used, the Lancôme Hypnôse Eyeshadow Palette, £43.50 here, has several similar shades included in it. Apricot makeup is one of TikTok’s biggest trends right now, with videos racking up hundreds of thousands of views showing how to incorporate the peachy pink tone into your everyday beauty routines.
Sophie’s pinky apricot eyeshadow featured a soft pale pink shade at her brow bone, blending seamlessly into a deeper pink around the crease of her eye socket. Her MUA finished off her pink-toned eyeshadow with a sleek, sharp eyeliner wing that tied the look together and complemented her 1960s-inspired flicky half-up half-down hairdo.
For Sophie’s base, Lisa ditched any deep contour or bronzer in favour of softer, peachy tones that flattered the singer’s natural pale complexion, with a subtle rosy blush on her cheekbones and a peachy-pink lip colour that blended the various apricot tones of the look together. Lisa shared on Instagram that she used exclusively Lancôme makeup products for Sophe’s red carpet look, with the brand being the official beauty partner of the awards ceremony.
Lancôme is currently offering 25% off its BAFTAs beauty products, which include the Teint Idole Ultra Wear Care & Glow Foundation, £31.60 here (was £39.50), and the Hypnôse Mascara, £23.20 here (was £29).
Her apricot shadow wasn’t the only dramatic eye look Sophie debuted on the evening, as she made a return to her iconic green glittery shadow for her performance of Murder on the Dancefloor, mimicking the signature look from the song’s original video. Although she’s never officially revealed what she used to create the original look, there are several different products you can use to duplicate the iconic green glittery eye look.
KVD Beauty’s Dazzle Gel Eyeshadow Exclusive in Nebula Green, £23 here, has flecks of multidimensional pearls for an ethereal gleam, and it can be worn alone or layered over other shadows, and gives the perfect dense colour payoff to copy Sophie’s signature look. If you prefer more of a liquid formula, e.l.f Cosmetics’ Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow in Mermaid Shimmer, £6 here, applies with a wand applicator and has a creamy texture that can be easily blended to create a strong glittery look.
Whether you’re all about her Murder on the Dancefloor emerald sparkles or can’t wait to incorporate her apricot hues into your day-to-day beauty routine, it looks like Sophie Ellis-Bextor is our new go-to beauty guru.
