You’d be forgiven for thinking that adding honey to your beauty routine is a guaranteed way to be left with a sticky mess, but if there’s one brand that’s proved otherwise, it’s Gisou. The brand has been fusing honey with haircare products since 2015, starting with its now cult-favourite Hair Oil, £35 here.

Since then it has launched plenty of other products that contain the deceptively hydrating ingredient, and its latest launch promises to bring that ultra-moisturising finish to your lips, too. The new Gisou Honey Infused Lip Oil, £24 here, is the perfect alternative to a traditional lip gloss, leaving your lips with a high shine finish without any of the stickiness – not bad considering its main ingredient is honey.

Gisou has launched its new range of honey-infused lip oils

The new lip oils combine Mirsalehi honey and bee garden oils to create a glossy shine and non-sticky finish, whilst hyaluronic acid and jojoba and meadowfoam seed oils all work together to lock in moisture and smooth your lips. The result is a liquid-looking finish that keeps your pout hydrated throughout the day, with an added subtle plumping effect that leaves them looking fuller.

You can snap up the new lip oil in a choice of four different honey bee-loved scents, including strawberry, mango, watermelon, and of course, honey. Each flavour has a subtle sheer tint of colour ranging from pink and orange to clear and gold, with the shades carefully designed to suit all skin tones.

To get the best out of the Gisou Lip Oil, exfoliate your lips first – we love REFY’s Lip Buff, £14 here – before swiping the oil across them for a soft, smooth and non-sticky finish. You can also layer it with your go-to lipstick for a smooth, wearing it underneath for an added hydration boost, or on top for a lip gloss effect.

Lip oils have been edging out a traditional gloss lately as the go-to way for a shiny finish, with the non-sticky formula making it a blessing for avoiding the dreaded gust of wind/long hair combination that inevitably sees you unsticking your strands from your pout.

If you want some added shine and a boost of wellbeing for your lips, Nuxe’s Honey Lip Care, £14.40 here (was £18), combines honey with nourishing ingredients like plant oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence to help protect your lips from external aggressors like harsh wind and colder temperatures. It can be worn as a traditional balm, or as an overnight mask to help repair damage and dry patches, and you can even use it on your skin too.

Honey, our lips have never looked better.
