Whether you’re visiting for a hen party, a mother-and-daughter moment or a romantic getaway with a loved one, the best spa breaks are welcome retreats from the hectic everyday life, and will leave you feeling relaxed and revitalised.
But they’re not a particularly cheap activity, especially once you factor in all the lovely extras (treatments, healthy salads from the spa café, glasses of fizz in the hot tub…). Sure, you might stumble across a “sounds too good to be true” offer on Groupon, but what if you’ve got your heart set on visiting one particular place for your pampering? Well read on, as we’ve got experts from top spas across the UK to share their secrets on how to find the best deals…
*Research the area to avoid big events
“Make sure you’re not visiting when there’s a big local or sporting event on, as hotel prices may be higher than usual due to high demand,” says Aisha Evans, spa manager at The Wave Garden Spa in Snowdonia. “Do some local research to ensure you’re not booking during those times.”
*Follow the hotel on social media
“Check on social media to see if there are any last minute deals to be had,” says Holly Glynn, spa manager at The Spa at Ardencote in Warwickshire. “We often put up last minute availability on our Instagram Stories, so if you’re flexible on dates, it’s an easy way to pick up a deal.”
*Go directly to the hotel’s website…
“It sounds simple, but check the website for any offers,” says Warrick Burton, managing director of Titanic Spa in Huddersfield. “We have a dedicated section for limited edition spa deals, so going direct rather than through a booking website might mean you get a better deal. Also subscribe to a spa’s newsletter, as most offers are also sent out directly that way too, so you’ll be the first to know.”
*…but also check partner sites
Gemma Barratt, spa director across the Daniel Thwaites hotel group says, “You can often find deals in surprising places. Some booking agents partner with other brands so you can use points collected for a spa day. For example, SpaSeekers partners with Tesco and O2, which can get their Clubcard and Priority customers up to 40% off a spa day.”
*Visit midweek
“Booking midweek will most likely be better for picking up a deal,” says Jemma Whitney, spa manager at The Spa at Breedon Priory. “Weekends are obviously the most popular time to visit a spa, so if you can organise a stay between Monday and Friday then you will be more likely to get a lower rate.”
