Though most of us are rushing to go darker with our hair colour for winter, some celebs – like Bella Hadid and Tasha Ghouri – are going against the trend. Now, Lily Allen is joining that lighter haired line-up.

The 37 year old has seemingly just revealed a big hair transformation on her Instagram page. We say seemingly because Lily is using a filter on her selfie, and it slightly skews the look of her hair. However, after trying the filter for ourselves, we can confirm that it doesn’t alter hair colour, which means Lily really has taken the peroxide plunge.

The colour is also a big change from her usual dark brunette shade, but we love how she’s kept a warm tone to the blonde – very flattering against her skin tone. It also looks like Lily has lightened her eyebrows to match the new colour as they appear much lighter in shade.

Lily looks amazing with blonde hair

This isn’t Lily’s first hair transformation in recent months, either. Back in November 2022, Lily decided to go for her shortest look to-date, debuting the glossy crop on her Instagram grid. The style she chose is dubbed a “French bob” by hair experts, which typically tends to be shorter than a traditional chin-skimming bob. The Parisian look is also characterised by the addition of a blunt fringe.

If you like this look, and you’re keen to get a “straight out of Emily in Paris” cut for yourself, now is the time to do it because short hair is all the rage.

Lily wears a "French bob"

“Winter sees the bob take on a Parisian feel with a statement fringe and wavy, undone texture,” explains Jordanna Cobella, Wella Professionals digital craft expert and Cobella salon owner. “This cut perfectly frames the neck and jawline. We also call it the ‘Amelie bob’, and it really helps to create structure and definition, flattering most face shapes. It’s also such a transitional look for those growing out a pixie or a short cut.”

As for blonde hair, we’ve moved away from the light, peroxide shades that were popular in the summer. Instead, the trend is leaning more towards warmer “Aspen blondes” and buttery, copper-tinged tones like the one Lily is wearing.

Has the singer inspired you to go blonde this winter, or will you go to the dark (and glossy) side?
