As a whole host of singers, dancers, and actors performed at tonight’s (Sunday 7 May) Coronation concert, the glamorous looks came in thick and fast.
And one star who didn’t miss the chance to go all out with their look was South African dancer Motsi Mabuse, who shared a sneak peek at her look on Instagram before her performance.
The Strictly judge shared a transformation video that showed her going from her leggings and hoodie to a spectacular black sequin trouser suit, but it was her hair makeover that had people in awe.
Motsi is known for experimenting with daring and dramatic hairstyles, showcasing everything from elaborate braided bantu knots to sleek, glossy waves in recent months, but her Coronation look is one of her most unique styles yet.
Taking the popular curtain bang trend and putting a completely unique spin on it, Motsi opted for a braided curtain fringe, which started at a centre parting and was sculpted around her forehead to create the same shape as curtain bangs. She opted for an updo that allowed her braided bangs to shine, with spiralled braids framing her face and the rest of her hair slicked back tight to her head.
Motsi’s incredible elaborate updo was created by celebrity hairstylist Dionne Smith, who specialises in natural and textured hair, and is known for sculptural braiding techniques. She’s previously worked on big name celebs like Leigh Anne Pinnock and Sarah Niles, and has worked with Motsi on several occasions to create here eye-catching updos during judging on Strictly.
To give her sculptural braids centre stage, Motsi’s makeup was done in a soft, sultry glamorous style, with soft eyebrows and a dark smokey eye, with a dark lip liner and deep red lipstick making her lips pop.
