Like fashions, spring nail trends are typically all about floral designs, barely-there nudes or pretty pastels (case in point: Hailey Bieber’s fresh new lemon yellow manicure). But there’s clearly still a place for a bit of sparkle in the sunnier months, as this A-listers’ favourite manicurist has shown.

Tom Bachik, who counts the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Camila Cabello as clients, recently reposted an image on Instagram of the manicure he did for Selena Gomez’s Golden Globes look. The singer’s nails were shaped in an elongated almond shape and painted a very sheer nude shade before being finished with a sprinkling of chunky clear crystals.

Tom created this 'naked disco' nail look on Selena

“Anyone else loving Naked Disco Nails?!” Tom captioned the post – and just like that, we knew what to ask for at our next nail appointment.

“You and Selena always setting nail trends!” one person commented, while another Selena super-sleuth thought that the term “naked disco” might be hinting at something coming soon from the popstar: “One of the songs from the upcoming album or the name of the album itself…” she speculated.

The nails perfectly complemented Selena's red carpet look

While we wait to see if that prediction ends up being true, for the nail professionals among you Tom has helpfully listed the exact products he used to create this look: Aprés Nail extensions in the shape Natural Medium Stiletto, Aprés Nail gel polish in the shade Forgotten Film and to finish, Swarovski Pixie Dust, tiny crystals sprinkled onto the top coat.

However, we’ve also found some more easily accessible products to help you get the “naked disco” nails look at home…

Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish in Fairy Tailor Sheer Pink, £9.99 here

For the base colour go for a nude but, unlike the recent “lip gloss” and “rosé” nude nail trends, for this look the polish needs to be quite sheer – you should still be able to see the white tip of the natural nail through it. Apply two coats though for maximum glossiness and longevity.

The Unicorn’s Den Mermaid’s Tail Chunky Nail Glitter, £1.99 here

There are plenty of cheap glitters available to buy online – we like this one as it contains a mix of big and small glitter particles, and has an iridescent crystal-like sheen.

OPI Nail Lacquer in Pop The Baubles, £14.90 here

A simpler way to get a similar effect, however, is to use a glitter polish – look for one with a clear base and big flecks of silver glitter like this one. Apply one coat over the top of your base colour then finish with a topcoat.
