Salon in the Spotlight: The Beauty Hut, Pontyclun, Wales
The Beauty Hut opened its doors in July 2022, when Kate Morgan made the decision to move from her home based salon into a premises on a busy high street. “My vision is to create a one stop shop, offering a complete package of treatments including nails, lashes, waxing, massage, aesthetic treatments, hair, and more.”
“Within the first few months of being open, I have gone from working alone to working with seven other staff members, that work on a self-employed basis,” Kate reveals. “In the salon we have myself, beauty therapists Kate, Livy and Sophie, hairdressers Megan and Dean, and make-up artist, Melanie.
“We offer gel nails, builder gel, and builder gel extensions. We also offer a range of nail art which is very popular amongst our clientele. We find that nails and lash lifts are our most popular treatments. However, our hairdressers also have a large client base.”
“We absolutely love The GelBottle’s products, and this has been very popular with clients,” she shares. “The GelBottle’s BIAB is now our go-to nail treatment, with most clients moving away from nail extensions.
“I have used Beautiful Brows and Lashes for over two years for both Lash Lift and Brow Lamination, and have amazing results. I find the products do not damage the hair and the results are long lasting. A popular product for the hairdressers is Olaplex. These are also used to retail, and sell well within the salon.”
“We have a range of clients, including women between the ages of 18 and 80,” Kate explains. “We do also have men come in for some beauty treatments – often waxing and hair cuts.
“The area in which the salon is based has both a primary and secondary school within walking distance, so often out clients can range from mothers dropping off their kids, teenagers looking for treatments, to grandparents having a pamper!”
“As a one stop shop, there’s nowhere else in the area that offer a complete range of treatments under one roof.”
“Using the name of The Beauty Hut, I wanted to incorporate an outdoor theme and feel into the brand, using lots of greens, wood and flowers to create a natural vibe.
“I wanted to move away from a clinical feel and create a relaxed and welcoming environment,” she smiles.”I absolutely love the fact that the salon is so spacious and the set up allows for a vast array of clientele to come through the door, allowing me to interact with the community and build valued relationships.”
