If you’re a beauty lover, you probably spend a lot of time concentrating on creating the perfect skincare routine. From dutifully double cleansing to using a whole host of different tool to help tighten, firm and heal your skin, we all know how important it is to keep your complexion clean and hydrated.
However, one area that’s often overlooked when it comes to your skincare routine is your scalp, which needs just as much care and TLC as your face and body when it comes to keeping it healthy, especially at this time of year.
Colder temperatures and low humidity can dry out your skin leaving you with an itchy, flaky scalp, whilst product build-up can lead to greasy roots and dull, flat hair that’s most definitely not thriving.
So, just like you would with dry, flaky skin, you need to give your scalp a really good cleansing, and as well as using a cleansing or clarifying shampoo, like the L’Oréal Professionnel Series Expert Metal Detox Anti-Metal Cleansing Cream Shampoo, £23.85 here (was £26.50), using a cleansing brush is a great way to not only make sure your shampoo is thoroughly worked into your hair, but also helps cleanse and stimulate your scalp too.
One celeb who knows the benefits of a good scalp massager is Stacey Solomon, who was recently spotted using one in her Instagram stories. In the videos, Stacey can be seen taking a white scalp massaging brush and working it through her dry hair in circular motions as she chatted about her hair routine.
Although she doesn’t mention exactly which scalp brush she uses or where it’s from, it looks very similar to the FREATECH Scalp Massager Shampoo Brush, £8.99 here, which has silicone bristles that gently scrub and massage your scalp without scratching or irritating it.
As well as helping give your scalp a thorough cleanse and scrub, massaging brushes are also great for helping to stimulate hair growth. The circular movement helps encourage circulation in your scalp, boosting healthy blood flow to the area which in turn stimulates your hair follicles and encourages it to grow.
Amazon shoppers have also been loving the FREATECH Scalp Massager Shampoo Brush, £8.99 here, with one saying: “I love how soft the bristles are, perfect for massaging the scalp. Very gentle on sensitive scalps. I did a scalp treatment on my husband recently, using the brush and he fell asleep!”
Another wrote: “Really good. Not rough on the scalp at all and is easy to clean,” whilst a third added: I’ve bought this product a couple of times now – the first one broke apart when I dropped it in the shower, which was a shame. The second I bought for my boyfriend because he liked it so much. It feels very satisfying to scratch your head and it’s great for lathering up the shampoo 🙂 I definitely feel fresher after using it, even if it’s not actually making any difference.”
Looks like we’ll be adding scalp care to our daily beauty routines from now on!
