From Ciara’s rainbow unicorn hair to Amelia Grey’s wet look locks, here are some of the best hair transformations from this year’s Coachella.
Ciara’s rainbow unicorn hair
Ciara made a surprise appearance at the festival on April 16, debuting her brand new pastel rainbow coloured hair. Recently the singer has been rocking a short bob in various colours, but decided that Coachella was the perfect opportunity to mix things up, opting instead for ultra long curly extensions in various pastel colours.
Rather than going for the typical bright colours you’d usually associate with colourful hair, Ciara had instead chosen much softer pastel shades of pink and blue, mixed with a platinum blonde. The colours were blocked throughout the waist length curls, with Ciara sharing a snap of her new ‘do on her Instagram with the caption ‘C’ and a unicorn emoji that mirrored her new look.
Charlie D’Amelio's bleached blonde bob
TikTok breakout star Charlie D’Amelios ditched her signature dark hair in favour of a bold new look, as she opted for a bleach blonde bob with a darker shadow root. The bold new style, which was done by celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, gives Charlie a much cooler, edgier look that fits in perfectly with the desert festival vibes.
Her new platinum locks were then styled in a wet look finish, with touseled, messy waves for an easy to manage look that went perfectly with her outfit, which included an off the shoulder top, tulle skirt, and oversized western belt for the ultimate festival style.
Amelia Grey’s wet look locks
Model Amelia Grey is known for embracing some of the more edgy trends and isn’t afraid to commit to a major transformation. Having previously tried everything from bleached brows to swapping her chocolate brown locks for a jet black colour, for Coachella she kept her transformation more low key, choosing to experiment with styling rather than a major chop or colour change.
Amelia styled her long black locks in a slick wet look style that’s been increasingly popular with celebs, giving her a fresh out of the shower look that lasted throughout the day. Rather than slicking her hair back, she chose to leave them loose, embracing her natural waves and sticking to a centre parting, as she wore a denim corset and denim midi skirt with biker boots.
Saweetie’s hand-painted design
Saweetie is no stranger to changing up her looks, showing off a blonde look on her first day at Coachella, before debuting a painstakingly hand painted colourful design for her second day. The style switch up consisted of extra long locks that reached the top of her thighs in a pastel pink colour, but the dramatic makeover didn’t stop there.
Wearing her hair in a half-up bun, the rapper revealed a beautiful hand-painted design on the underneath section of her hair, with a neon rainbow coloured heart painted onto her hair. The design was done by LA-based colorist Jes Jewel , who painted the rainbow hearts by hand and dubbed the entire look ‘Powerpuff Core’.
Alessandra Ambrosio’s colourful streaks
Model Alessandra Ambrosio is known for her long dark waves, but decided that Coachella was the perfect time to try something new and daring. Rather than go for an all over new colour, the model opted for colourful streaks throughout her hair.
Dimitris Giannetos has definitely been busy this Coachella, as he was also the man behind the daring look. Alessandra’s new colour features pink, orange, and green streaks throughout her hair, before styling it in a super high half-up half-down ponytail, with the lengths curled to show off the different shades.
