This year's Cannes Film Festival red carpet was a real treat for the eyes. Naomi Campbell delivered 90s Naomi vintage supermodel and Gemma Chan took her new fringe out for a spin. However, it was Dame Helen Mirren who provided us all with the transformation of the year.
The Queen actress attended the Jeanne du Barry screening on Tuesday evening with an edgy new hair colour that perfectly matched the pastel-blue hue of her dress. Her hair featured multiple tones of blue ranging from dark denim to a more violet tone. Her tresses were then artfully piled up onto the top of her head to form a messy updo featuring loose tendrils of face-framing pieces.
We've been wondering if she really went for the plunge and coloured her hair semi-permanently, but we've just found out through L'Oréal that the transformation was thanks to a bargain wash-out spray: L’Oréal Paris Colorista Spray in Pastel Blue, £7.99 on Amazon. The exact colour is currently out of stock but you can snap up the turquoise shade for £8.56 here.
The product is incredibly simple to use; simply spray on the colour and wait a few seconds for it to dry. The shade will then last you through to your next hair wash when it'll wash fully out – perfect for when you want to try a bold look without committing to the shade lingering for weeks.
Helen's glam kit for Cannes included quite a few other bargain buys. Her flawless base came courtesy of L’Oréal Paris' Infallible Foundation in Golden Beige, £12.99 here, her youthful flush was thanks to the brand's Paradise Blush in Melon, £7.19 here, and her lips were given a neutral tint with the Color Riche Intense Volume Matte in shade Rosy Confident, £7.99 here.
We love it when an A-lister uses affordable buys we can shop ourselves!
