This Morning host Josie Gibson is gearing up for the incoming warmer weather with a hair transformation that plays into a top colour trend we saw take off in summer 2023: a cowboy copper.
The presenter has long been a blonde, but it seems change was in the air because she's just revealed the new hue to her 711k Instagram followers, captioning the short clip: "Thank you to @fourlondon for changing my locks. I've known these ladies for years, and they are insanely talented. It's a real family atmosphere when you walk in and I had a scream getting my hair done..@charley.mcewen you are responsible for my slight hangover today! LOL don't ever change."
Josie starts the Reel with her usual blonde hair falling past her shoulders, but after a brief transition she returns with a caramel-coloured, slightly faded copper hue that suits her skin tone perfectly. Her followers have been quick to share their love for her makeover, with many of her celeb pals taking to the comment section to say how much the copper suits her.
"Love the colour change,' writes Nadine Baggott, while Ashley James pens: "Oh god Josie I love it!"
Fellow This Morning presenter Sian Welby simply adds: "OBSESSED," and make-up artist Anna Lingis says: "Love it!"
Though, as we say, this specific shade of muted copper was a big trend around summertime last year, it's still an in-demand hue in 2024, with hair salons noting they still get plenty of requests for red and ginger transformations. What makes a 'cowboy' shade unique is that it's more of a rich and buttery caramel tone that falls in between a dark blonde/light brunette and a vibrant red. Plus, with over 15 million views on TikTok and counting, Josie is bang on trend with her colour choice.
“Copper is more popular than ever in our salons, and this year there are so many new colours in the copper palette that clients are requesting," explains Larry King, Redken UKI Ambassador. It’s not a one-tone look…people are getting inspired to try a copper customised to their complexion and style, and more blondes are starting to experiment in the tone. From copper blondes with soft blush tones to warm honeys, natural gingers and vibrant reds and a deep auburn palette for brunettes, there’s a shade to suit every season, skin tone and hair type.”
