Most of us will have binge-watched the whole first series of Netflix’s Wednesday by now, including Victoria Beckham. Why do we suspect that VB herself is a fan of the show? Because she seems to be emulating the sullen character with her latest beauty look.

The former Spice Girl is known for her lack of smiling in photos and for her love of wearing black, so she’d arguably perfected a slightly more grown-up version of Wednesday Addams’ look before it even became a “thing”. Now, she’s getting even closer to a gothic glam beauty look with a take on Wednesday’s iconic braided hairstyle and moody make-up.

Heading out for an event in Paris this week, VB swaps her usual beachy, balayaged tresses for a slick braid, which hangs down her back in a very Wednesday-like fashion.

Though the fashion mogul is also usually a fan of a dewy blush and a rosy pink lip, she’s kept her base looking flat by avoiding any blusher or bronzer, and her lips have been tinted a dark maroon-like shade.

In fact, VB’s lip colour is so similar to the one Jenna Ortega wore while filming Wednesday that we’re even wondering if she used the same product: MAC’s lip pencil in Night Moth, £18 here. Because Posh Spice is wearing sunglasses, we can’t compare her eye make-up to Wednesday’s, but we imagine she’s used a smudge of her Victoria Beckham Beauty Satin Kajal Eyeliner – something she rarely goes a day without applying, if her Instagram Stories are anything to go by.

Mrs Beckham has posted a snap of herself with her updated beauty look on her Instagram grid, and fans have quickly responded in the comments with comparisons to Wednesday Addams and to Morticia Addams.

“Morticia Addams is coming,” says one, while another adds: “It’s Wednesday from the Addams family!”

A third writes: “Very goth! Looking a bit Morticia!”

We wouldn’t be surprised if VB has indeed been inspired by the Netflix show for this look because it seems like the rest of the world has been. “Soft goth glam” is trending on both TikTok and Instagram, with users keen to copy the “Wednesday” look for themselves.

Helpfully, the show’s hair and make-up designer, Tara McDonald, decided not to gate-keep the names of the products she used on the set, and revealed all of the secrets in an Instagram video with US-based beauty editor Cat Quinn.

We already know about the lip shade – the MAC pencil combined with a bit of clear balm – and for the eyes, Tara blended MAC Brown Script, £17 here, on Jenna’s top lid and underneath her eyes. She also used MAC Carbon, £17 here, underneath her eyes and smudged Carbon and Glitch in the Matrix, £17 here, on her top lash line

Consider all of us influenced.
